The GameCube’s first-ever beach volleyball title, BEACH SPIKERS takes you on a world tour of the best courts under the sun. Choose your men’s or women’s squad from a list of 16 international teams, including entries from Japan, the U.S., Brazil, Australia, Spain, Italy, France, and Cuba. Much like the long line of beach volleyball games that have populated the arcades since the early ‘80s, the game has a very simple control scheme; designed to minimize the learning curve, the controls are pared down to the direction pad (or joystick) and two buttons. There are plenty of gameplay modes to test your skills, including Arcade, World Tour, Tutorial, and VS mode the latter allowing up to four players to get into the tangle. Arcade mode is a an eight-team tournament that leads to a grand championship celebration, while World Tour lets you develop your team’s AI by taking you through a series of practice scenarios. Packed with cool graphics, creative, camera angles, and instant replays, this is one cool game.
