There are many different STAR WARS games on the market, but only by picking up Eidos’s LEGO STAR WARS game can Game Cube players see the saga retold using the classic building bricks. Focusing on the prequel trilogy, the game puts players in the role of several Star Wars characters as they fight for the freedom of Naboo and in the Clone Wars. Each of the three episodes, including the Revenge of the Sith, is broken down into a number of levels. Players will have a number of characters on their side and can switch between them with the touch of a button. While battling, the Jedi’s lightsabers and Force abilities will come in handy, but to reach some locations, players will need to take control of R2-D2 and squeeze through small areas. Dozens of different characters join the battle against the Sith as the game progresses, including Obi-Wan, Padme, and Qui-Gon Jinn. The game is mostly action-adventure, although some puzzles are spread throughout. Each of the episodes recreates the most memorable parts of the movies, including the big battles with Darth Maul and Count Dooku. At any time during the game, a second player can take control of another of the AI allies, allowing two players to team up without restarting. Seeing the story of Star Wars told through LEGO is unique, but it doesn’t detract from all the fun action that LEGO STAR WARS has to offer. Star Wars fanatics won’t want to pass this title by.
